When I right click on a link that turns out to be dead... and tell it to open in a new tab, it opens up a Can't find this page message... on every open window I have. Broadbandreports.com http://www.dslreports.com/ has a list of DNS servers you can use. Switch DNS. I have several Locations that I use in addition to Verizon's [my ISP] DNS. I do have this happen from time to time, especially when I click on a string of news links from a news site. I have these open in a string of tabs so the pages will be fully loaded by the time I flip to them. When I later reload the dead pages they usually turns out to be fine. You type that into your address box (about:config). But be careful. Don't change anything in there unless you know what you're doing. That's odd. I rarely see anyone using a mouse with their notebooks that they carry around, only with desktop-replacement ones at home. I used to hate trackpads. Then Apple innovated all sorts of finger gymnastics (two-finger drag, three-finger drag etc.) that made the track pad as fast or maybe even faster for many common actions. I no longer hate trackpads. You type that into your address box (about:config). But be careful. Don't change anything in there unless you know what you're doing. Really, the only options you might need to change for tabs is in the ToolsOptionsTabs. The about:config window is available when you type it into the URL location bar at the top of the browser window. Firefox now gives you a warning that you're about to break something, but do you want to do it anyway. If you're worried about breaking something, don't do it. However there are a lot of good preferences that are hidden in Firefox and can't be changed in Preferences or Tools/Options. The file is called *prefs.js*, located in the user profile for Firefox. Back that up first, and have fun turning things on and off. Mozilla SeaMonkey lets you set the preferences for new windows and tabs, but most of those choices in Firefox are hidden. I can choose new tabs to open in the background with the same URL as the last window/tab in SeaMonkey, but not in Firefox. For that I copied that pref in SeaMonkey prefs.js and added it to Firefox. Speaking of all this: I thought I found somewhere in Firefox (I think it was an about:config setting) that tells the page to scroll to where ever I click in the scroll bar. Sort of a scroll to here. I can't find this setting now. Could I be mistaken? Does Firefox do this by default? I'd like to get Seamonkey to do it. I have 2 of these mouses/mice/meese?--one for my desktop and one for my laptop. It's the only thing I've ever found that doesn't wreck my hand.
