the laptop may also have a place to plug in an external antenna, which would be
an easy resolution to the problem.

I gather the built in is built in, and not removable.

My daughter now has a new Toshiba Laptop. I have a wireless network at home.
Her computer enters in the network OK but not in her
room that is a little far way.

Question, can I install a Network Adapter USB-2 in her computer and use it
instead of what she has built in? Will this help?
Also, if I change from C to a G network will this help?

Many thanks

Unless you need to send the signal in the opposite direction, just install a
reflector.
