Apache has well-defined descriptions of what licenses open-sourced
software can have to be redistributed. But does anyone know whether
this applies to fonts that get embedded in a PDF when the PDF is
generated? As I understand it,

The specific case would be the inclusion of user documentation,
specifically end-user-documentation.pdf, which is now being generated
in both English and Japanese. The PDFs formerly were generated using
whatever Forrest used as the default font, but now they will be using
the IPA family of fonts.
