LEUKOS: The Journal of the Illuminating Engineering Society
Special Issue: Museum Lighting Call for Papers
Deadline: 31 March 2018

Investigating how modern lighting solutions can improve customer experiences in
museums?
Concerned with the challenges new lighting technologies present for
conservation of museum exhibits?
Please contribute your research to the Special Issue of LEUKOS on ‘Museum
Lighting.’

Why this subject?
Museum lighting is at a pivotal moment. Solid-state lighting (SSL) promises to
transform the illumination and display of art. LED lighting offers many
opportunities to present art, heritage and archaeological pieces in a better
light. Literally. But they present new challenges concerning conservation and
the best customer experience. The challenges are likely to be addressed from
applied and multidisciplinary research. This includes engineering,
architecture, vision science, psychophysics, psychology, conservation science,
physics, and chemistry.

This special issue will follow the 1st International Museum Lighting Symposium
and Workshops, to be held September 11 – 12, 2017 at University College London.
