Wiley Digital Archives has project opportunities developing hands-on
experience assisting conservators in library and archive collections. Wiley
is seeking candidates able to work at the libraries and archives of various
learned societies, based in London. This work is in support of a program to
digitize historic collection material for preservation, research and
education. The main duties will be to locate, retrieve, track, handle and
pack archival and library content for shipment to and from a digitization
facility, under the supervision of an Accredited Conservation Manager and a
team of qualified conservators. This opportunity would suit students,
recent graduates and other people interested in a career in conservation
who are looking for contacts and experience in a project setting. The
ability to to organise your workload and work under pressure are crucial.

Successful applicants will undergo training in document handling and
packing by Wiley conservators (some items are unique, rare, fragile,
valuable, and hold historical significance). Work schedules will be
determined according to the workflow at each institution and may require
some flexibility. This is a paid, temporary position, with projects
potentially lasting well into 2019 at least. Full time is preferable but
weekends and evenings are not currently required.
