THE COLLECTION The new collection Conservation 360º is a series of multi- and interdisciplinary books on current themes in the field of Conservation of Cultural Heritage. Each book will provide a general overview of the state of the art, research and concepts in the field of the preservation of cultural heritage aimed at professionals of conservation-restoration, scientists, art historians, archaeologists, technicians and students. Conservation 360º is a fully peer reviewed open access international book series and carries the Spanish Academic Publishing Quality label (CEA-APQ). This quality label has recently been created by the Union of Spanish University Publishers (UNE), the National Agency for the Evaluation of Quality and Accreditation (ANECA) and the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT) and ensures the highest scientific quality as well as the informative and editorial value of the series[1].
CONTENT Each volume will be about 150 pages long and will consist of a series of peer-reviewed chapters by invited authors as well as contributions by experts in the Cultural Heritage field. The proposed manuscripts must cover original and unpublished work or provide a review of the state-of-the-art on the selected topic. FIELDS OF INTEREST Different titles will be launched progressively in the forthcoming years. The topic of the first volume in this series is: UV-Vis Fluorescence imaging technique (Eds. M. Picollo, M. Stols-Witlox and L. Fuster-López). Details about submission are given below. PUBLICATION POLICY The collection will provide immediate free access to its contents, based on the principle of making quality research freely and quickly available to the public to support a greater exchange and dissemination of trustworthy knowledge. The volumes will be published in electronic format under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivative license 4.0. They may be copied, used, disseminated, transmitted and publicly displayed, provided the authorship, URL, and Editorial are cited, and that content is not used for commercial purposes. A limited number of hard copies will be printed on demand. REVIEW PROCEDURE After the relevance of the proposal to the topic is assessed by the editorial committee, the selected authors will be invited to submit full-length papers. All papers will be peer-reviewed. Thanks to the fluorescence of many materials present in our collections, it is possible to obtain relevant information not only about how objects were created but also about their material history in relation to their aging and degradation and about the transformations they undergone over time. This volume will provide an overview of the evolution of UV-Vis Fluorescence imaging techniques and will present current and future trends and technologies. In this publication, conservators, archaeologists, conservation scientists, professionals and students from related disciplines will find valuable information about the technical and instrumental aspects of the techniques. Case-studies will illustrate the potential of these techniques for use in day-to-day conservation practice and their limitations. TOPICS OF INTEREST · Clear examples of projects where this specific technique has been of decisive importance for the execution of a conservation treatment; · Novel applications of the technique in conservation case-studies; · Limitations of the technique in cases where one would have expected it to be of use. · Especially valuable combinations with other techniques to gain insights.
