Used cfdisk to create a new partition - wrote part-table to disk but the new
/dev/hda? device did not appear.  Tried to create a symbolic link ala /dev/hda1
but the device still "did not exist".  Had to reboot before I could make a file
system on the partition and mount it.  This is with mdk9.0 Beta2, single ide
disk, 40+ GB, 512MB RAM, 1.2GHz PIII.
