I ran drakedm to try and correct this and after selecting mdkkdm as the login
manager a /etc/sysconfig/desktop file was

I just confirmed this doing a fresh cooker install. There is no
/etc/sysconfig/desktop file and the contents of /etc/sysconfig/autologin is
AUTOLOGIN=yes
