Hi! It seems that several (all?) applications which use alsa need libalsa2-devel to run. They search for /usr/lib/libasound.so which is in that package.
I noticed this with alsamixer and xine. alsamixer e.g. quits immediatly with an error message if libalsa2-devel is not installed.
