Afterwards, the setup continues on. I never went through the whole setup b/c I was unsure what problems this "no response" thing might cause for the setup. I have 2 hard disks in my machine. I am running an athlon xp 2100 cpu, asus a7n8x motherboard with the geforce2 chipset. 512MB RAM. Both hard disks are 80GB.

Both hard > disks are 80GB. > actually what you are seeing, is this: (at least with the latest kernel...) hde = no response (status = 0xfe) hdg = no response (status = 0xfe) This is the Sil3112 SATA controller telling you that it can't find any harddisks connected to it... so you can safely ignore it... (unless you have SATA disks...) The devices connected to the nforce2 IDE controller shows up as: hda ( wich is primary master ) hdb ( wich is primary slave ) hdc ( wich is secondary master ) hdd ( wich is secondary slave ) -- Thomas ** * If nothing else works, read the manual ... ... ... **

I disabled the sata interface with a jumper and boot with acpi=off.
