Seeing the same bug here as well, with 9.2 final release and a Compaq Presario
915us. At the "Enabling PCMCIA extension cards..." point, I get:
Bank 3: b400083b at 0001fc0003c8
Kernel panic: Unable to continue

Install works with "linux nomce noauto".

Bug 2130 seems to be a dup of this one.

I tried to install Mandrake Linux 9.1 beta 3 (dated 31.1.2003 17:30:28) to my
Compaq EVO N1015v laptop. During the very beginning of the installation, the
installation program seems to hang when enabling PCMCIA extension cards. The
exact error message is "Bank 3: b400083b at 0001fc0003c8 Kernel
panic: Unable to continue". (Screenshot available at
http://www.sunpoint.net/~jhero/HPIM0182.JPG).

Unfortunately I cannot access the log or kernel messages by pressing Alt-F3 or
Alt-F4, because the whole system seems to hang and does not respond to any keys
pressed.

Compaq EVO N1015v has AMD Athlon Mobile XP 1500+, 256 Mb of RAM, ATI Mobility U1
display adapter, 20 Mb Fujitsu hard disk, Integrated network adapter (Windows XP
recognizes as Realtek RTL8139 C+), and Winmodem (Conexant Intl HSFi V92 Mini
PCI). I have also 3Com wireless card 3CRWE62092A connected to PCMCIA slot. It
does not seem to help if I remove PCMCIA card before the installation.

I tried to install both, in expert and in normal mode, but it does not seem to
make any difference.

I also tried to install Mandrake Linux 9.1 beta 3 from the same cd to my desktop
PC, and it seems to go just fine (in that sense, there should not be anything
wrong on the installation cd).

When the installation starts up, press F1, then type linux nomce noauto, and its
should work fine, I had the same problem with a compaq 915CA Athlon 1800+
