Hi Paul,
My apologies, was bit in a rush with new data to analyze.
For more informations : Mac OS Big Sur 11.5.2, XQuartz 2.8.1 (xorg-server 1.20.11), Coot 0.9.6 (updated via
CCP4 (7.1.016).
Here is the terminal output (if I downgrade back to coot 0.9.6, uninstalling the last ccp4 update, then coot
does not crash)
Hope it will help
Xavier

I am using Coot on a Mac (Big Sur)
I’ve lately updated my CCP4 (7.1.016) which includes the latest Coot version, but after this update Coot
systematically crashes (From Phenix or directly from my terminal).
I’ve downgraded to CCP4 7.1.015, to get my Coot to work again.
Any of you experiment such crashes ?
How to solve this ?
If this is not a bug report, then I have nothing to say (Coot does not
systematically crash for me).
If it *is* a bug report, then I do...
How do you know that it crashed?
It would be helpful to see the crash catcher log.
It would be less helpful, but it would at least be something, to see the
terminal output.
But with no log at all and no recipe to reproduce, you have given us litterally nothing to go on. That's
not helful.
Hi Xavier,
Your message will make Clemens laugh - shadenfreude - or some such :-)
It is indeed not a crash - Coot terminates with an error message (but the crash-catcher thinks that it *has*
crashed, inconstantly).
For now, remove (no-coot-tips) from your ~/.coot or any .scm files in ~/.coot-preferences - in your case
~/.coot-preferences/coot-preferences.scm
This issue will be addressed in the shortly-to-be-released 0.9.6.2.
Thanks,
Paul.
