Dear All,

I am using COOT 0.9.6

OK.

Ubuntu 20.04.4 LTS installed on a virtual machine (VMware)

COOT shows the atoms as squares and these squares fill the screen, even if the represented atoms are outside the field of view.
Have someone experienced the same issue? How to fix it?

Coot is designed to work on the machine your sitting at. That it works remotely at all is something of a pleasant surprise. Circles becoming squares is something to do with the graphics drivers, I think. My guess is that the OpenGL back-end recognises that it's on a virtual machine, uses software rendering and gives up on the idea of antialiasing.

Google square GL_POINTS for more information

Paul.
