Re: [COOT] How to set up key binding "g"?

2022-05-31 Thread Bernhard Spingler
Dear Paul,
Thanks a lot for your extremely fast and helpful reply. This was the
information, I was looking for! I copied the template_key_bindings.py file into
the ~/.coot-preferences/ folder and renamed as key_bindings.py. Now Coot is
working as in your tutorial.
Best regards
Bernhard

Dear Paul,

Thanks again for your fast reply. My new question is: how do I
activate these user-defined key bindings? My list is of user-defined
key bindings is empty, the normal key bindings do not contain the "g"

get the error messages:

The standard way to install bespoke key bindings for Coot 0.9.x is to
put them in a file ~/.coot-preferences/key-bindings.scm (or
key_bindings.py for python)

I would need to see the startup log if it's going wrong unexpectedly.

OK

It still remains unclear to me, how did you set up your own user-defined key
bindings?

You question was how to setup the g key-binding. My answer was that the
corresponding Python code is now embedded in Coot.

You can find examples of Python key bindings in
$install_top_dir/python2.7/site-packages/coot/template_key_bindings.py

I am using WinCoot 0.9.7 EL and just installed the 0.9.8.1 version.

Good.

That was written a long time ago, when key-bindings were first added.
Now the key bindings are built into Coot, you just need to activate
them. See the "How to setup your Coot" video.

[COOT] How to set up key binding "g"?

2022-05-27 Thread Bernhard Spingler
Dear all,
I want to follow the very nice youtube tutorial "How to add a water"
(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ac6e-57KM68). However I am missing the user
defined key binding "g".
In
https://strucbio.biologie.uni-konstanz.de/ccp4wiki/index.php?title=Pauls-key-bindings-for-coot

I found the guile description for setting up "g":
(add-key-binding "Go To Blob" "g" (lambda ()
(blob-under-pointer-to-screen-centre))) however, I would need the corresponding
Python code.
Thanks a lot for your help!
Best regards
Bernhard
