problem seems like bash vs sh, but I doubt if that's the whole of it.
Is FreeBSD within consideration of working build platforms?

I just update coreboot on my motherboard and after reboot of my
computer the chassis fan stopped working.
I did not have this problem with the version of coreboot from 1 March 2014:
