It is obsolete and at the end of its lifecycle. Galena is being replaced by a modern, vendor-supported system, and will be decommissioned in the second quarter of 2016. PERSI does not expect to make any more code changes to Galena, but needs to maintain the capability to fix bugs or make critical code changes. This position is to function as a backup for PERSI’s on-staff programmer/analyst in case of unexpected circumstances, but the primary duties will be solving performance and user issues and running queries. Intermediate familiarity with Galena and the Galena database schema is a requirement of the position. · Conduct research or investigate malfunctions and errors of the Galena pension administration system and devise solutions to problems. · Document problems and solutions. · Perform periodic maintenance functions. · Perform periodic utility tasks and run periodic reports and queries. · With minimal assistance and supervision, design, develop and test simple or intermediate database queries. With minimal assistance and supervision, review and analyze Galena program code.
