Re: [CoTyroneMailingList] Chambers family, Newtownstewart, Tyrone

2018-04-03 Thread Henry Bruns
Tom,
Happy to be of help. For the sake of accuracy (and not to be “nit picky”),
Robert Hely Thompson (pen name: Robert Blake) was my great grandfather.
I’m excited to be visiting his homeland soon!

Re: [CoTyroneMailingList] Omagh visit

2018-03-28 Thread Henry Bruns
Dave,
Thanks for your response. My mother’s maiden name is Thompson. She is age 96
and still going strong.
Henry Thompson is the physician I mentioned and his second child (and son) was
Robert Hely Thompson. My grandfather was John Blake Thompson, Robert’s eldest
son, who was London-born and raised. I understand Robert lectured in
mathematics at Trinity College (so we plan to visit the university while in
Dublin).
Sorry for the confusion over last names...my mistake.
Hope you get some rain soon; we live near Portland, Oregon and would gladly
send you some of our rain!
Henry

[CoTyroneMailingList] Omagh visit

2018-03-27 Thread Henry Bruns
My wife and I plan to visit Omagh in mid April, 2018 as part of a trip to
Ireland from the States...our first trip to Ireland.
My great grandfather was born in Omagh in the mid 1850s. His father, Henry, was
a physician who helped to found the Omagh Infirmary, if my Irish-English mother
is correct.
I was hoping someone at this email address could tell me where I should
visit in Omagh to learn more of my family’s history.
Many thanks.
