Hello Listers, Are there any Shillington descendants out there? Perhaps the family fortunes altered with the financial loss of the Syerla corn mill in 1849 during the Great Famine?
Extracted from the Newry Examiner and Louth Advertiser, 3 January 1849: FIRE. – On the night of the 16th ultimo, a fire broke out in the corn mill belonging to Mr. HENRY SHILLINGTON, in the townland of Syerla [Clonfeacle parish], near Moy. We regret to add that the property was consumed to the amount £240, a portion only of which is covered by insurance. The mill was rented by Mr. Shillington from the late T.
