I'm just getting back to my computer after a 10 day break. I've given myself a membership in the Ontario Genealogical Society, have renewed my ancestry world membership, and continue on myheritage. Winter is the best time to search ( easier to block out other distractions), so I am starting out the new year feeling hopeful.

Happy New Year to you. Happy hunting for the 'lost leaves" on your tree.

I lost one of my research mainstays in Ontario when he died suddenly Nov 21. He was elderly but still very active. I went to a distant cousin's funeral in Barrhead AB as I had agreed to with him before he died. There, I met a cousin, Dr. Rex (Betty) Boake, from Edmonton. Later, when I spoke with Bill Stutchbury, the new widower, he told me that Howard Stutchbury, his Dad's Dad had founded the Alberta Safety Council, was a coal commissioner for Alberta, and one of the founders of the Alberta Music Festival. I'm related on Bill's mother's side (Margaret Boake). I'm always surprised at what I learn, aren't you? (This line is descended from Rebecca Cooper, a sister of the Mary Ann Cooper I tell you about below.)

I think I mentioned, when you were here, that there were some Croziers on my family tree. I looked them up and don't have extra particulars for you, but descended from Matthew Cooper and Susan Molyneux (my 2x gr grandparents)are :

Last child, Mary Ann (1864 - 1945) married Bartholomew James Boake (1854 - 1928) 26 July 1882 at Cookstown ON.

Their daughter Matilda Myrtle Boake (1 Nov 1888 -  - ) married Wilbert Clarence Snider (1886 - 11 Mar 1971) on 5 June 1912 in Downsview ON. They farmed in the Elia area and when they retired to Weston, their eldest son, Melville continued to work the farm. They had 6 children.

The eldest, Charlotte Ann Snider ( 25 July 1913) married Thomas Eugene Crozier on 10 December 1936 in Toronto ON. Their children are: Mary-lou Jean Crozier b. 25 Aug 1938; Thomas Vernon Crozier b. 9 April 1940; James Charles Crozier b. 10 July 1944; David Bruce Crozier b. 12 Dec 1948 and Ruth Anne Crozier b. 13 May 1950.

If I count correctly, the above are my 3rd cousins. A little is recorded on the next two generations. If you find that you need this info, I can look a little farther. Woodstock, Downsview, Orangeville are place names that I see. The family tree I'm quoting was finished in 1974.

Now, I must get some lunch, get outside, and then study the Ontario Genealogical Society (OGS) site and the Simcoe County Site to see what they have to offer me.

Susan
