Perhaps, if that malware had access to the Exchange server.  As it
is, the Exchange server cannot receive mail from outside the
network.  Incoming smtp is restricted to my Courier server.

It is possible to bypass Courier from inside the network, but that
only bypasses the spam checking.  There are additional virus checks
on the Exchange server and on all the desktops.  Outgoing mail is
also forced to go through Courier, as it is the only machine that
is allowed to send outgoing smtp.
