You're either not using authenticated ESMTP or you're running the entire 
esmtpd daemon as root (less likely, since the default startup script tells 
couriertcpd to drop root immediately after grabbing port 25. 

authstart needs root to be able to validate system passwords for 
authenticated ESMTP.
