that mail got bounced and that was it.
now it locks the account.
it might not be a big deal for johnny and his 2 friends on their private
server, but for an enterprise that's another matter.
any solution to this problem? or should i just turn off the backscatter
protection completly?

How many enterprises place quotas on users, which are smaller than the
size of messages they allow? Even free webmail

the Maildirs are in /home, the spool and ARCHIVEDIR in /var
i don't really expect a complete solution considering the lack of
details, but ideas and things i should be looking at.

somehow, something happened to sqwebmail's 8bit support between

every extended characters now appears as a losange in mozilla () or

what happens when you have 5 addresses going to ONE box? now you do it
five filters when you only need to do one. it's a trade off, and the
current way of doing it is the proper one, it gives you more control (if
you have 5 destinations you have 5 users, which might very have
different
government agencies (Canada).

replication makes it ideal for such a task, especially
with the maildir format. i'm a bit concerned about the performances though.
your experiences? does it work? does it not? why?

to no avail. anyone familiar with the internals
could explain the why and how of it? is it a courier thing? or something
required for smtp?
note that i am not trying to CHANGE it, i'm just wondering about this new
error. it's also a handy information to have for my spam reporting script

i've noticed that here, eventually can be a few months :P
i noticed that, on some accounts that i removed the quota on (in the
dabatase), the maildirsize file didn't get updated and i had to manually
remove it

actually, i do use some hacked-on mail aliases with mysql right now.
creating a standard account and dumping the targets in .courier
prolly won't scale to 10k-15k users but works just fine for now (5k). i just
couldn't find a decent ldap management tool back when i was looking at the
systems..
+ POP3 server optimization.
from what i gather from the changelog, this would only be useful when the
user has leave mail on server and retrieves the mail a second time.
correct me if i'm wrong

you could delete the courierimapuiddb file in each subdirectory affected.
courier imap should rebuild its index next time the directory is updated

check the permission of the home dir and/or Maildir of the user connecting

the home dir must be chown the user, no group/world permissions (700 is a

remove the passphrase from the cert. just make sure the permissions are OK
so no one can read it beside the imap server and you'll be fine

is there a way, other than mailq | tail -1 to get
thesize of the mail queue? often when something goes wrong the mail queue
fills up (like right now there's 5000 messages in the queue) and this would be

sad but true, we often bitch about the problems and never take the time to
send thanks when we're satisfied. we from an old Sparc 1 with sendmail

the learning curve is indeed very steep, but the package is rock stable.
thanks sam :P

check your mysql setup, maybe your table isnt correct, or if you're using a
mysql_select clause check to see you have the right order, the one listed is
wrong (way wrong)
FYI i have libmysql listed after authpam and it works fine (and i use both
systems, in the process of moving to mysql)

Is there a way of getting SqWebMail to just use the user's full name
and not the rest of the GECOS field? Also, can you set the domain
(I'd have thought it would use /etc/mailname or something...) or even
set the from address per-user?
seems like the only way to do it is to either: use a
kind of a weird issue, i used to see it once in a while for some weird
domains but now it's doing it for one of our internal domain too. here's the
Cxx file in the msgs directory

under sunos with sendmail, you could do something like
sendmail -qRsomedomain.com
to force sendmail to go through the mailq and attempt to redeliver all mails
containing somedomain.com, is there any way to do it with courier?

you should just use the quota function, that way if your lusers leave their
messages on the server... well it's their problem

check into /courier/etc/smtpaccess
you can list the IPs, whether to accept, and whether they are allowed to
relay
my set up looks pretty much like this
1.2.3.4 allow,RELAYCLIENT
5.6.7.8 allow,RELAYCLIENT
* allow
the * line says from any host, accept mail if it is destined to a local
i had the same problem when trying to use a massmailer i wrote (just a quick
and dirty script)
there was a char in my msg that told sendmail it was the EOF, so try playing
with that
