Hi, my name is Joel Bennett and I've been following this group for a little while but haven't officially introduced myself. We launched a new coworking space the 1st of October in rural Iowa. Although Iowa's "big" cities sport a handful of coworking communities, we believe this is the first rural (<20,000 people) coworking community in the state. We've renovated a space off the downtown square in Pella, Iowa, and we've had some good success over the last 2 weeks with a) leasing our 4 private offices and b) getting a core group of mobile coworkers to work in the space. This group has been super helpful in answering questions we hit along the way!
Our space is names Veel Hoeden, which loosely translates to "many hats" in Dutch (slight twinge of concern that one of the Dutch coworkers out here will correct us on that). We're a historically Dutch community, so it is a nod to that, as well as the folks who work in our space---we're very eclectic and varied. Since it start on October 16, we've been in the top 2 the majority of the time, but we're locked in a tough battle to win the whole thing. I was hoping I could lean on this coworking super-community to help us out by dropping us a vote to help strike a win for coworking in the "Silicon Prairie". You can vote once per day per computer network, so you can vote once from home, work, the local coffee shop, etc., but once you vote from there, no one else can. In a small town this makes it a bit of a challenge. But with folks from 50 states and a mob of international locations, this group could help us move forward quickly without much trouble. I'd appreciate your daily vote, so if you would take 5 minutes to set up a recurring appt through October 31 (when the competition ends) I would be so appreciative.
