courthouse the first week of April 2001

Jim testified for himself during the afternoon,
presenting as good a narrative as Jeff's. He's
due to continue on Monday.
Both Jim and Jeff made little use of exhibits,
and an observer might think their testimony
was scripted by a single writer: both had
been well-rehearsed in acting style and

Declan's motion to avoid testifying was denied, though
Judge Tanner said defense cross-examination would be
limited to his testimony. Declan is testifying this
afternoon.
Judge Tanner twice warned Jim to not speak out and
that he will be muzzled or taken "down stairs" if
he does so.
Bear in mind that when I appeared before the grand jury, all
the charges against Bell has been made, and no new ones
have been lodged, AFAIK. As with CJ, there were public
warnings made by the feds through disclosures of continuing

new ones, including Declan's filings yesterday, now up to 101
documents, a bigger rush. Several are the feds' responses to
Jim's motions. One reveals that Jim's telephone calls from
jail are being recorded, and states he was notified they

all TIFF images of court filings. Whether that is due to Judge
Jack's expanding his order forbidding public disclosure of
discovery materials after we put a bunch of Jim's filings on
the Net, or another counterterrorist ploy to censor Jim

The WWA images were available only through the PACER
subscription service, so they are not likely to be archived
on the Web unless somebody else did it.
We downloaded many, but not all of them, and not all
