Hello Pria,

Thanks for writing; very sorry to hear it did not work out and frustrated that
this decision needed to be made.

There have been problems before with participants traveling from Africa to
Canada (also with sufficient funding etc.) so clearly policies are not getting
more visa friendly, and unfortunately in many other Europen countries the
situation does not seem to get more welcoming either.

I agree with you that we should find a way to add travel restrictions/visa as a
criterium for selecting the location for 2017. Yet another argument to have an
LGM outside Europe/North America?

Hope we can hear about your work at a future LGM and many thanks for your
effort.

Hello.,

This email is in relation to Pathum and my Canada visa being rejected.

Speaking for myself, this is the first visa that I have ever applied that
has been rejected. I am Indian and have a minimum of 20 visas stamped in my
passport which include two UK visas and about half a dozen Schengen visas.
I demonstrated more than enough funds, at least USD 20,000 for a week of
stay, return tickets and confirmed accommodation. I am also contracting for
three firms that include Google, Monotype and URW++, and Canada does not
have any employment opportunity that is interesting enough, nor does it
sound like a land of milk and honey. I pose no threat of wanting to
immigrate to Canada and I just think they are not very visa friendly. It is
extremely unfortunate that Libre Meet is held here once in two years
therefore not letting people like us have a chance of participating. I do
request you to look into this and if there be a chance to choose locations
that have minimum travel restrictions, giving all of us an equal
opportunity.

If anyone else has faced similar issues I urge you to share your story too,
and any thoughts and steps on choosing better locations.

Warm Regards
Pria
