Only the most trivial; you choose the row to transmit.

One of the wheels has a letter omitted and another duplicated. The order of
the wheels can't be changed.

RE: it looks like Microsoft didn't get it right

This is not as serious as I thought. According to
http://www.elcomsoft.com/AEFSDR/whatsnew.txt, the cracker would need your
password and access to your drive.

it looks like Microsoft didn't get it right

2004-11-18 Thread Dean, James
for sale at http://www.elcomsoft.com/prs.html#aefsdr
 :

A program to recover (decrypt) files encrypted on NTFS (EFS) partitions
created in Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows Server 2003. Files are being
decrypted even in a case when the system is not bootable and so you cannot
log on, and/or some encryption keys (private or master) have been tampered.
Besides, decryption is possible even when Windows is protected using SYSKEY.
AEFSDR effectively (and instantly) decrypts the files protected under all
versions of Windows Server 2003 (Standard and Enterprise), Windows XP
(including Service Pack 1) and Windows 2000 (including Service Packs 1, 2, 3
and 4). Registered version costs $99 (personal license) or $199 (business
license).

Even more simply, if such a method existed, you could recursively
apply it to its output and compress every message as one bit.

RE: "PGP Encryption Proves Powerful"

The article hedges on whether or not PGP was used on the Psion mentioned.
The Psion might have been using one of the other programs listed at
http://www.ericlindsay.com/epoc/sicrypt5.htm.
