I went with this convention. It works as expected in IE 6+, FF 1.5+ and Safari.

has a height of about 10 pixels.
In Firefox, etc. you can get around it by setting the height to 0px,
but that doesn't work in IE 6 and 7.
So what's the best method to use these days?

I have implemented created a layout for a client to take a look at,
using Brothercake's UDM menu. It works great on various browsers on
Windows. but breaks terribly on a Mac in Safari and IE 5. I'm not so
worried about IE 5, but what gives with Safari?
