CTAN update: animate

2018-11-21 Thread CTAN Announcements

Alexander Grahn submitted an update to the

animate

package.

Version number: 2018-11-20
License type: lppl

Summary description: Create PDF and SVG animations from graphics files and
inline graphics

Announcement text:
--

This update of the `animate' package adds support for Martin Gieseking's
`dvisvgm' output driver. Now, it is possible
to create self-contained, animated SVG files, that run in all modern Web
browsers as stand-alone files or as embedded
objects in Web pages (by means of the HTML tag). Such SVG animations
have the same look and usability,
including optional controls, as if they were embedded in PDF.

Since `dvisvgm' is linked against Ghostscript, it is able to parse and convert
embedded Postscript to inline SVG code.
Therefore, it is mostly compatible with the popular TikZ and PSTricks packages,
which can be used to create animated
content.

Intermediate DVI and XDV, to be used as input for `dvisvgm' can be generated
using `latex', `lualatex' in dvi mode,
platex or xelatex (with option `-no-pdf').
