-Caveat Lector-

The study itself:

Washington Post writeup:
http://washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A38828-2001Jul9.html

This line from the NYT article is a keeper:
>But not everyone agrees that the Internet needs more regulation.

And another:
>That may mean finding a way to wield public influence in decisions about
>privacy, the quality of information and consumer protection, power now
>typically left to business executives and technologists who design
>software, Ms. Baird said, because in many ways, technology has replaced
>government as the main regulator of online behavior.

Technology replacing government? Someone should tell Ms. Baird that this is
a good thing. I hope this trend accelerates, not slows.

screeds are unwelcomed. Substance—not soap-boxing—please! These are
sordid matters and 'conspiracy theory'—with its many half-truths, mis-

major and minor effects spread throughout the spectrum of time and thought.
That being said, CTRLgives no endorsement to the validity of posts, and
always suggests to readers; be wary of what you read. CTRL gives no
credence to Holocaust denial and nazi's need not apply.
