reform of the United States government.
BILL'S BUDDIES

Bill Clinton's contacts with the drug cartels and with organized
crime have now become so obvious that any American taking even a casual
interest in the news would soon realize that we have a man in the White House
who should not be there. Perhaps the most publicized contact has been with
Carlos Salinas de Gotari, former President of Mexico, at the time the two of
them conspired to pass the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), which
cracked open our Mexican border for the benefit of the drug traffickers.
Salinas hastily left Mexico when his brother, Raul, was indicted and
apprehended for the murder of Mario Ruiz Massieu. The Salinas' family
connections with drug trafficking and murder were sufficiently well
established so that Carlos Salinas found it necessary to leave the country in
order to avoid arrest. The fact that he was not apprehended while he was here
in the United States is another indication that the Salinas brothers had
friends in this country in the highest positions of authority. In the Massieu
trial, witnesses implicated ex-president Carlos Salinas in that murder as well
as in the murder of Luis Donaldo Colosio, Salinas' chosen successor. The news
that has rocked Mexico in the past few weeks is that a Mexican court has found
Raul guilty of the Massieu murder and has sentenced him to 50 years in prison
for the crime. Of course, the family will appeal the case, but the Mexican
authorities have successfully kept Raul in prison now for four years, and it
begins to look as if President Ernesto Zedillo is making a courageous and
successful effort to change the corrupt ways of politics as they have existed
in Mexico for many decades.

Another friend and defender of Bill Clinton is Dale Bumpers. Mr. Bumpers'
history is interesting. He and Senator Pryor, both former Arkansas senators,
successfully blocked a federal investigation into the illegal drug
trafficking at Mena Airport in Arkansas in the 1980's during the governorship
of Bill Clinton. (They had the help of others in Washington.) Mr. Bumpers
very recently gave a speech at Clinton's Senate Impeachment trial, and, waving
his arms, concluded with the remark that "...you cannot convict him." He
may be right. Corrupt forces may have penetrated far enough into the U.S.
Senate so that Bill Clinton may be safe from impeachment no matter what crimes
he may have committed. Further, Matt Drudge is reporting that some
investigators working for the House Judiciary Committee actually fear physical
harm if they help the prosecution. We have had so many reports of threats and
intimidation it seems reasonable to assume that even members of Congress have
been threatened. Did we see fear on some faces the day the Senators walked
into the Senate Chamber for the beginning of the impeachment trial? Ken Starr
certainly knows about this, and it may be the reason for the "leak" this week
concerning the possibility of the direct indictment of Clinton.

Adding to our list we have Mr. William Weld, former Republican governor of
Massachusetts who was nominated by Bill Clinton to be ambassador to Mexico.
Our ambassador there would have control over the borders in that part of the
world. Bill Clinton had taken the very unusual step of nominating a
Republican, and the controlled press dreamed up convoluted reasons for the
appointment. There was a fight in the Senate over the nomination which was
finally very effectively blocked by Jessie Helms. Senator Helms gave the
candid reason for his move when he said, "Soft on drugs." Searching further
back, we find that Weld had been one of the persons under investigation by
special prosecutor Lawrence Welch for drug trafficking during the Bush
Administration.

As of last July one researcher lists forty-three of Clinton's close
associates who have been convicted of crimes. The list includes his brother,
Roger, convicted of drug trafficking. Others have been convicted of drug
trafficking, money laundering, embezzlement, fraud, tax evasion, etc.
Coincidence? Should we judge Clinton on the basis of his friends and
associates? Yes, there are so many criminal associates that we can. The
lists of Bill's criminal buddies is long and sordid. This man does not belong
in the White House.
