THE POPE SOUNDS OFF IN RESPONSE TO GAY
PARADE
Over the weekend, the Vatican let its voice be
known regarding the Catholic
Church's opposition to homosexuality. Rome was the selected location for
"World Gay Pride" Pope John Paul II tried to get the homosexual rally
canceled. The Pope referred to the gathering as an "insult" and said;
"homosexual acts are against nature's laws. The Church cannot silence the
truth, because this would not help discern what is good from what is evil."
Several homosexual attendees were dressed as Catholic priests. One marcher
carried a picture of a naked man crucified and performed mock blessings on
other marchers. Many marchers held signs stating, "God is Gay." The Pope
said, "Homosexuals should be treated with respect, compassion, [and]
delicacy because homosexuality is a disorder." Attendance for "World Gay
Pride" was lower than anticipated, as it was earlier this year in the
homosexual Millennium March in Washington, D.C.
