While the pagan origins of tree worship is documented, there is
absolutely nothing to support that the story of Adam and Eve was the
subject of mysteries or worship at places like Stonehenge. In fact,
little or nothing is actually known of what the Druids actually did
worship at such places.

In Greece, the Elusinian Mysteries celebrated the placement of the
seed in the ground, the "death" of the seed, and the "resurrection "
of plant life to sustain mankind with food. In the ancient world, it
was this "death and resurrection" that was the most profound mystery
of life on which all of mankind depended. Not to mention the "death"
of the sun at Winter Solstice and it's return....that the sun would
return, providing warmth and fertility to the frozen earth was the
profound hope of mankind who...we must consider....may have, at that
time, have had some "memories" of emerging from the rigors of the
Ice Age into easier times.

As the discovery of the Ice Man showed us, the ancients had a
profound knowledge of the trees--one of their earliest resources.
They learned what purpose each tree best suited. I believe the
recently-aired documentary said that the Ice Man carried tools and
weapons made out of seven kinds of wood....each best-suited for the
task it was used for. Knowledge of wood was of crucial importance
and was an important step before metals were developed.
