BUSH OFFICIAL FURIOUS AT NETWORK POLL THAT NAMED KEYES BIG WINNER OF
DEBATE!

"This is bullshit!" roared a furious George Bush campaign official late
Thursday night in Texas. "What is this poll? Why do
they keep showing it on TV?!"

Controversy erupted just hours after a New Hampshire debate between
Republican presidential candidates when a network
repeatedly aired results of a poll that showed Alan Keyes the big winner
of the night -- with nearly a 2 to 1 margin over
the GOP frontrunner, Texas Governor Bush!

The VOTE.COM website, run by former Clinton adviser Dick Morris, polled
viewers in real-time over the Internet. The results
were repeatedly aired nationally on FOX NEWS CHANNEL, which co-sponsored
the debate and linked to the Morris poll from its
website.

At 11 PM ET, with 8,000 votes logged -- Keyes had 47%; Bush pulled 25%
and McCain trailed with 18%.

When told of the results, Alan Keyes http://www.keyes2000.org/
praised the network for holding the debate and for its fair coverage of
his campaign.

"Since when do we let Internet polls lead the news?" the Bush official,
who demanded anonymity, fumed to the DRUDGE REPORT.
"This is unbelievable! The governor was the clear and convincing winner
of the debate."

FOX NEWS referenced the poll nearly non-stop in the hours after the
debate, creating an instant public relations disaster
for Bush 2000.

Dick Morris declared that money can't buy you love.

"This is historic," Morris said. "The establishment is zigging, and the
people that watched the debate are zagging. Keyes
is the clear winner!"

Bush supporter Rep. Jennifer Dunn [R-WA] blasted the poll during an
interview on the network. "These are not real polls,"
she said. "Who knows who is behind them... this is not scientific."

A source close to Morris told the DRUDGE REPORT late Thursday that the
Bush campaign is more than welcome to check the
results.

"We had our technical person there all night - he is completely
apolitical," the source said.

Besides, the source notes, Alan Keyes made a vicious personal attack
against Morris the last time they appeared on TV
together.

Next debate: Monday in Phoenix, sponsored by the Arizona Republican
Party and scheduled for broadcast by CNN.

Keyes Continues to Pull Away in Online Debate
                          Poll

                          Long-shot GOP presidential candidate Alan
Keyes continued to
widen his lead in an online post-debate poll
early Friday. Five
hours after the first debate featuring the
full field of
                          Republican presidential contenders had ended,
Keyes' rhetorical
skills had won him a near majority of those
weighing in with
Vote.com, the new political website created by
onetime White
                          House pollster Dick Morris.

The debate was sponsored by Fox News Channel,
for which Morris
works as a consultant, and local New Hampshire
TV station WMUR.
It was viewed by some as a make or break
moment for presumptive
                          nominee George W. Bush.

But it was the former Reagan UN official who
immediately
captured the lead in the unscientific survey.
And by 3:00 AM EST
Keyes' lead had widened to 50% of the vote,
more than double the
                          percentge garnered by Republican frontrunner
Bush.

Post debate analysis by the Fox News team
pointed to Keyes'
passionate oratory as a decisive factor in the
Vote.com tally,
with panelists Morton Kondracke, Fred Barnes
and Mara Liasson in
                          general agreement that Bush's performance
sounded scripted.

With Keyes pushing into majority territory,
Bush captured second
place with a disappointing 24% of the
self-selecting poll. The
only other contender to win a double digit
response was John
McCain, who was holding steady throughout the
night at 17%.
Steve Forbes garnered a mere 6% of those
responding, followed by
Gary Bauer and Orrin Hatch, with just 1% each.

McCain's Links to Vietnam Questioned
John McCain, the Republican senator from Arizona and former Navy

normalizing relations with
the same government that has repeatedly lied about
