"Frankenstein" has indeed become a code word for "evil, amoral, bad'n'nasty science"...and has acquired much the image that Godzilla was intended to have in the original movie, before the lovable lizard became a folk hero (at least in Japan). Perhaps someone should write up a glossary of Conspiracy Theory Code Words and Catch Phrases. (Actually, isn't there an alt.conspiracy FAQ?) A related tangent: There is a sort of penumbra where the occult and science overlap; indeed, it can be argued (see Keith Thomas, *Religion and the Decline of Magic*) that this is precisely where science in the modern sense was born. Crowley observed that "Magick, mysticism, and mathematics are triplets"--that is, the magician (=scientist) seeks to *control and manipulate* the Thing in questions; the mystic seeks to *experience* it; the mathematician seeks to *describe* it.
