SLAIN COLUMBINE STUDENT WHO FOUND GOD ONCE THREATENED TO MURDER PARENTS

In the publishing business it is called a good story -- and a "fast
turnaround."

SHE SAID YES: The Unlikely Martyrdom of Cassie Bernall, written by Misty
Bernall and published in hardcover by PLOUGH PUBLISHING HOUSE, is now set
for release. [SHE SAID YES is also on two audio cassettes that run
approximately three hours long. $17.95.]

The story of Cassie Bernall, who was killed in the tragedy at Columbine
High School in Littleton, Colorado, hits the shelves just months after the
tragedy.

Cassie was catapulted into the consciousness of the entire nation when her
gun-toting classmate asked her, "Do you believe in God?" she answered,
"Yes." With that single word, the brave young woman stood firm in the face
of death.

But now, Misty Bernall openly shares details of her daughter's life,
revealing an unexpectedly dark side.

"As told in her new book, Mrs. Bernall tells of Cassie's life and tragic
death, exposing what she considers an amazing religious salvation and the
awful irony of the murder of a teenager who many hailed as a martyr,"
announces ABC NEWS in a release hyping ABC's 20/20 this Friday.

Cassie Bernall did embrace God, a strong religious conviction she
ultimately may have died for. But amazingly, as her mother tells ABC's Lynn
Sherr, Cassie was a very different person only a few months before she was
murdered.

"She wasn't a perfect little Christian girl her whole life ... the kids
that killed her -- she was going down the same path," one close friend
reveals.

Mother Bernall tells the story of a troubled teen who not only rejected
God, but fixated on violence and suicide.

[What's in the water in Colorado?]

Bernall tells Sherr about evil letters written back and forth between
Cassie and her friends -- some that outlined graphic plans to murder her
and her husband!

Bernall explains how this troubled teen, who once fantasized about
murdering her parents, eventually found God and a more positive outlook on
life -- before she was murdered.

YELTSIN TELLS CLINTON IN PHONE CALL THAT CORRUPTION CHARGES ARE POLITICAL

Russian President Boris Yeltsin told President Clinton in a telephone
conversation Wednesday that accusations linking Yeltsin and his family to
corruption involving high-level Kremlin officials were politically
inspired, the NEW YORK TIMES is reporting in Thursday runs.

But one "White House official" tells the TIMES that Yeltsin did not state
his total innocence in so many words; rather, "he insisted that the
accusations were not substantive."

The WASHINGTON POST on Wednesday reported that a Swiss investigation has
uncovered evidence that a construction company -- that received major
Kremlin contracts -- paid tens of thousands of dollars of bills charged to
credit cards in the names of Russian President Boris Yeltsin and his two
daughters.

The White House official who "shared" with the TIMES Wednesday evening said
"Clinton did not indicate whether he felt totally reassured by Yeltsin's
assertions," according to publishing sources.

VIACOM/CBS: DO WE OWN YOU?

The air you breathe is free, but the airwaves are not!

Tuesday's press conference by CBSINFINITY Karmazin and VIACOMPARAMOUNT
Redstone announcing a proposed $35,890,000,000.00 marriage of assets will
go down as a modern media classic!

The street is amazing this autumn, the hoochies unreal. And watching
Karmazin and Redstone make their millennium pitch, sealed the deal.

Announcing the big one, the feisty Redstone began: "When you think about
the new VIACOM, you really only have to remember a single number. That's
number one!"

The #1 cable network group, here and around the globe; the #1 number-one
radio group; the #1 number-one outdoor advertising company; the #1
number-one entertainment brands in the most coveted demographic categories;
the #1 toilet maker; the #1 TV station group; the #1 number-one broadcast
network; the #1 popcorn provider; the #1 number-one television programmer;
#1 in rentable home entertainment; the #1 outlet on the planet for
connecting advertising with the audiences they need to reach; #1 in
number-ones; #1 of all-time in everything numbered; #1 in consumer book
publishers, #1 Internet; #1 top regional theme park chains...

In the Year of Our Lord Dow Jones 11,000, Redstone's sermon seemed to
convince the congregation.

"If that's my broker, I'll buy 9 billion shares!"

But I'll sell them in the morning.

Because the future turned kind of scary and my faith in media mergers was
shaken when Redstone and Karmazin moved to questions from the audience.

During the Q & A session it became disturbingly clear that many reporters
in the room -- were actually questioning their own bosses!

What used to be done in internal memos or during office meetings between
co-workers -- is now done during something called a news press conference.

At one point, a question was tossed to Karmazin by a reporter from CBS
RADIO, without any disclaimer.

[Do not notice that Karmazin runs both all-news radio stations in New York
City [WINSWCBS] and Los Angeles [KFWBKNX], as well as the CBS Radio
network. Would not be polite.]

During the press conference, Redstone and Karmazin were asked questions by
four reporters with direct ties to the new VIACOMCBS.

None dared ask for a raise.

And of course there were a few strays.

When one reporter from TIMEWARNER's CNN stood to ask a question -- Redstone
interrupted: "You're from where?"

"CNN," she answered.

Redstone roared: "Do we own you! Do we own you yet?"

The crowd laughed on cue.

It was where Seventh Avenue meets Broadway.

A moment so ridiculous, yet so prophetic.

So 90's.

And all that's yet to be.

You know in your heart that it's all leading to a final scene that will
have some scary looking media monster asking you if you've been bought.

And your answer will have to be, yes.

QUESTION: Can you talk about how INFINITY's Internet advertising would
match with VIACOM's formal strategy?

KING KARMAZIN: We believe that branding will be even more important into
the year 2000...

REDSTONE: I might just add one point, Mel. We have 300 million worldwide
households to drive traffic to all of our sites!

#1

Wake me, when they're done.

The best things in life are free!
