Clinton to Parents, Teachers: Up Yours!

“At a press briefing yesterday, Bill Clinton was asked what’s so wrong with
local school districts deciding how to spend federal education dollars?
Clinton’s response? "Because it’s not their money. If they don’t want the
money, they don’t have to take it. If they’re offended by it, they can give
it to other states and other school districts." Translation: All the money
belongs to Washington, so it’s our way or the highway!”

- RNC Chairman Jim Nicholson, 11/10/99

Clinton Pot Calls Greek Kettle Black

Faced with growing crowds of angry protesters, Bill Clinton did exactly what
we all would expect a coward to do...he canceled his plans to spend three
days in Greece during an upcoming overseas trip. The official White House
excuse for chickening out was “security,” according to presidential
mouthpiece Joe Lockhart. More likely, the vaunted Clinton PR machine was
distressed at the prospect of worldwide TV broadcasting angry protests by
people who are P.O.’d with the United States for dropping tons upon tons of
bombs on Kosovars (or is it Kosovarians?) just to secure some kind of
“warrior” legacy for a man who dodged his own nation’s call to duty. But
the
ultimate hypocrisy was the White House’s contention that Greece hadn’t done
enough to crack down on a terrorist group that has killed 21 people since
1975. But wasn’t it Bill Clinton himself who just released 16 terrorists
from American prisons only two months ago? “Chutzpah” thy name is Clinton.

Al(pha) Gore & The Big Bad Wolf

“As the Clinton administration became more and more corrupt, Al Gore
abandoned more and more of his squeaky clean, upright, uptight image. He
descended to level of just another Clinton flacker. ... Now that Al Gore has
sold his soul, prostituted his principles, and whored his way into this
swamp, he's looking for some gimmick to save his sorry keester. So he hires
a saucy little vixen named Naomi Wolf, someone even the Washington Post calls
a controversial feminist. ... Wolf, on the Gore payroll at fifteen grand a
month, is obsessed with sex and has advocated...teaching kids masturbation
and oral sex so they don't have to have intercourse. So far, we don't know
whether it was these bizarre sexual fetishes that attracted Al Gore's
attention. ... So here's the pathetic cultural squalor in which Al Gore finds
himself. Having sacrificed morality and integrity to be in power, he now has
hired as a wardrobe supervisor - someone who wants to teach masturbation to
kids. This might turn out to be a third Clinton term after all.”

The Drive for 695

It’s just not possible to overemphasize the significance of the passage of
Initiative 695 by Washington state voters last week. Most importantly, of
course, it completely refutes the Democrats’ and the left-wing media’s
contention that voters don’t care about tax cuts. They do. But the cuts
have to be real, meaningful, and easy to comprehend. Republicans in Congress
were trying to pass a $792 billion tax cut this summer. A laudable - if not
marketable - effort. What average American can relate to $792 billion? And
what does that actually mean to a typical American family? It wasn’t clear -
and it wasn’t specific. Neither was Bob Doles 15% tax cut proposal during
his doomed presidential campaign in 1996. Contrast those with I-695: “Shall
voter approval be required for any tax increase, license tab fees be $30 per
year for motor vehicles, and existing vehicle taxes be repealed?” Simple,
straight-forward, easy to understand, easy to relate to. No wonder voters
enthusiastically and overwhelmingly voted for this particular tax cut. If
Republicans in Congress and our GOP presidential candidates stop talking
about “billions” and “percentages” and come up with a real tax cut plan
that
the American people can easily relate to and understand from a personal
viewpoint - like Initiative 695 - Campaign 2000 is over.

Voters Say No To Taxpayer-Funded Elections

The Wall Street Journal reported this week that only 11.3% of taxpayers are
checking off the “yes” box on their tax return to direct $3 of their taxes
to
the presidential election fund. And that’s BEFORE it becomes widely
understood that money from this fund is going to prop up quixotic campaigns
for folks like Pat Buchanan - who couldn’t garner major party support - and
certifiable nutcases like Lyndon LaRouche. Taxpayer-funded elections: An
idea whose time has come...and gone.
