Russia's total tax bite is compared with the US and it just
doesn't seem possible??

Russia meeting tax revenue targets, minister says
MOSCOW, July 28 (Reuters) - Russia's tax ministry is meeting
monthly revenue targets and expects a good performance in August
and September, Prime-Tass news agency quoted Tax Minister
Alexander Pochinok as saying on Wednesday. Pochinok said the
ministry planned to collect 22.8 billion roubles ($940 million)
in cash in August, or 25 billion roubles including contributions
to special federal funds for developing roads and the country's
raw materials resource base. Prime-Tass said July's target of
about 23 billion roubles, excluding the special fund
contributions, had been overfulfilled but it gave no specific
figures.
