-Caveat Lector-

I can answer your question!
I have the Medical halachah for Jews.
Do you realize it is acceptable for a Jew to use pork insulin, or get skin
grafts from a non-kosher animal? The halachic ruling is that the kosher law
can be by-passed to save a life. However, with foods there is a great
controversy in Judaism, because so many non-kosher items are sneaking into
the foods. And there is still controversy with the rabbis in Israel,
especially since the new genetically modified foods may contain bug genes,
etc. There is an ongoing effort to keep a separate class of foods,
medicines, vitamins, etc. But, there is much work to be done before it can
happen.

The gelatin in most yogurts is not kosher. The rennet that curdles most
American cheese is not kosher, either, and most likely source is pig
intestines. A good website to get more info on this issue is
www.kosherfinder.com

For more on this very controversial topic, read:
"Biblical and Talmudic Medicine" by Julius Preuss, translated by Dr. Fred
Rosner.

Blessings,
Dr. Deborah J. Greenhill

DECLARATION & DISCLAIMER
==========
CTRL is a discussion & informational exchange list. Proselytizing propagandic
screeds are unwelcomed. Substance—not soap-boxing—please! These are
sordid matters and 'conspiracy theory'—with its many half-truths, mis-
directions and outright frauds—is used politically by different groups with
major and minor effects spread throughout the spectrum of time and thought.
That being said, CTRLgives no endorsement to the validity of posts, and
always suggests to readers; be wary of what you read. CTRL gives no
credence to Holocaust denial and nazi's need not apply.

Let us please be civil and as always, Caveat Lector.
