Jewish advisors urge Hillary to
support Pollard release

WASHINGTON -- First Lady Hillary Clinton, her campaign for
the U.S.
Senate flagging, is being urged to bolster her support
among New York's large
constitutency by announcing her support for the release of
Jonathan Pollard.
Pollard, convicted of passing military secrets to Israel,
has been sentenced to
life in prison.
Sources inside Mrs. Clinton's campaign said she has been
urged by some of her
Jewish advisers to consider breaking away from her
husband's policy and
announcing her support for Pollard's release. The former
U.S. Navy analyst has
served 14 years of his sentence.
The sources said Mrs. Clinton sustained a heavy drop in
support after she
attended a ceremony in Ramallah in which the wife of
Palestinian Authority
Chairman Yasser Arafat accused Israel of poisoning
Palestinian air and water.
Mrs. Clinton, who listened to a translation of the speech,
hugged Suha Arafat
after her speech.
Organizers for Pollard's release have launched a campaign
to rally support
among U.S. elected officials. "We are not going away," New
York State
Assemblyman Dov Hikind said. "This is only the beginning
of the campaign. We
want to know from Hillary where she stands on this
important issue."
