I'm building around 3000 packages on -current regularly, and don't see
segfault problems.

Isn't that for base? Radim wants packages.

You will need to fetch some libraries from NetBSD 7.1 though, because
OpenSSL had a major bump.
Unpacking base.tgz will do.

Re: -current binary packages

2017-06-28 Thread Chavdar Ivanov
-current changes often enough, it is not practical to maintain binary
packages for all versions. You either compile the packages you need from
pkgsrc yourself, or use the latest available, perhaps from 8BETA (although
I never checked if these are present). I personally run current on all my
machines, physical or virtual, and I usually start from an ISO downloaded
from releng.netbsd.org, then I get pkgsrc and install sysbuild and
sysupdate, then I load src.tar.gz and xsrc.tar.gz from -current, configure
sysbuild and setup overnight cron job to update it nightly. The packages
usually continue to work without a problem, there are a few one has to
update from time to time - i.e. osabi, lsof and x11-links, but otherwise
there are not many problems. While I have tried pkgin and binary packages,
I've found that the flexibility in dealing with the sources and choosing
the package options yourself is worth the waiting for the compilations.

ftp://ftp.netbsd.org/pub/pkgsrc/packages/NetBSD/

However the last build seems to be for over a month ago, at least for
amd64. They should work with -current but may give warnings that it
wasn't built for your platform.

I cannot get everything to build on my -current system. Too many
packages die due to segfault. Perhaps that is why no new builds are
being done.

Has anyone been able to build the latest pkgsrc on the latest -current?
In particular GTK based packages such as xfce4 and libreoffice. One of
the failing dependencies for me is sysutils/libnotify. It builds fine
on 7.1.0_PATCH.
