6.8.1/6.8.2 mix.
Same problem. I even tried switching screen res to 1024x768 (since the

You may want to use startxwin.sh or startxwin.bat, since there seems to
be no evidence of anybody trying those methods yet. My experience is
that I have tried startx and startxwin.sh, and they both don't work; the
startxwin.bat file is the only one that worked for me. Try it out, and
see what
startx won't start X, after fresh install of latest cygwin on fresh XP
laptop.
The output I get is exactly the same as reported on cybertechhelp by
someone else, a week ago (which has had no useful response in that forum):

strace output between 1.5.9 and the snapshot.
I don't regularly use windows/cygwin which is why the plea for advice.

I will attempt to build a current cvs snapshot and see if the problem
occurs there

I'm trying a very simple search: cygpcre-0.dll
It doesn't work, I get all the hits for cygpcre
and dll, even if it's in quotes. As a result, I am
probably about to submit a duplicate report.
I know, it's probably because that's the way
it's indexed. Still, it turns what could be a very
narrow,
this problem so promptly
(1.3.20-1).

that malloc calls mALLOc() in winsup/cygwin/malloc.cc... I haven't
yet determined which sbrk() is being called yet. Once I do, I plan
to trace the VirtualAlloc() calls.
