Sorry if this post should have gone elsewhere (I'm sure somebody
will correct it ;)
I'm museing about trying to get /etc/profile to update
itself. What I'm currently debating is a script which runs
before the new files are installed which compares
/etc/profile with
Preremove is to do things like removing cached rebased .dll's etc -
things you can only do while the rest of your package is installed.
postremove is to do cleanup that you cannot do while the rest of your
package is installed.
