Thanks again Igor, it worked like you described. I didn't expect to be able to enter the xhost command on the remote machine, I thought I had to enter it on the machine running the X server. However, I added xhost remote-machine to my ~/.gnomerc and it works perfectly. Thanks, Reinhard
