This question was answered in the cygwin list, but the proposed
solutions did not work.
Someone on the list suggested that I send the question to
cygwin-xfree, so I did.
When I delete the -I and the -L and try:
X_INCLUDES =
X_LIBS = /usr/include -lX11
I get:
g++ -O2 -o aplus.exe
The beginning of that (unwrapped)
g++ -O2 -o aplus.exe /usr/include mainC.o aplus_main.o aplus_uext.o
matherr.o -L/usr/local/aplus-fsf-4.22/src/IPC
should probably be
g++ -O2 -o aplus.exe mainC.o aplus_main.o aplus_uext.o matherr.o
-I/usr/include -L/usr/local/aplus-fsf-4.22/src/IPC
