Running gnome on a remote machine

I'm interested in opening up the Cygwin Xserver, and then connecting to 
a remote machine, and starting the gnome desktop.  Log is below.


command I used:

/usr/X11R6/bin/XWin.exe :9 -query hostname

Symptom's I'm seeing.

A new Cygwin/X windows is opening up, however the gnome desktop is never 
coming up.


Am I missing something, or a step?

years ago you even needed to have the same resolution on the monitors
but that was fixed.  Check you color depth.
