Running WinXP, latest service pak and fixes. I had problems with xwin
from the Cygwin 1.5.25-15 pegging one of my CPUs at full usage when
connecting to an Ubuntu 9.1 box. So I decided to try the 1.7 beta.
Well, now that I've upgraded I am having problems connecting to the
Ubuntu box.

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Cygwin-X; however,

Since you've asked this on multiple lists, I'm going to assume this is more than

I'm having trouble with checkX. I haven't seen other people complain
about this, so I assume it's something about my system, but I can't
figure out what. There are two symptoms:
1. If I run checkX with a timeout, the timeout seems to be ignored. For
example, with the X server *not* running:
