Is there any way to get cygwin/X windows to move to another virtual
desktop using nView? When I try, the window just remains visible on all
desktops.

What terminal do you use? (The cygwin-xfree list is meant for X issues.)
The cygwin xterm program

It's creating problems for me, especially when I ssh to remove systems
where I can't arbitrarily change the stty erase setting. TIA.

After upgrading to Cygwin X 1.7.3, I noticed that startxwin.bat has been
replaced with startxwin.exe. I also noticed that the xterm launched by
startxwin.exe ignores my .Xdefaults file. Subsequent launches of xterm
use .Xdefaults as expected. How can I fix this? I want it to use the
same colors,

I have the same Numlock/Capslock issue (see my previous post).
Stop fighting about this, it doesn't help ! Please, does anybody have
a solution ??
Yes. The location of the startup bat files changed from /usr/X11R6/bin
to /usr/bin. You need to change your start menu shortcuts
Eric Roode wrote:
How does the location of the startup batch file affect the behavior of
numlock and capslock in xterm?
Yes. The batch file is different. The binary is different. The
environment variables are different. For example this is in the old
batch file but not in the new one.

Started getting this warning on ssh sessions that forward X11 after
upgrading to the new X11 package yesterday. I forward X11 on all ssh
connections via a line in ~/.ssh/ssh_config. I don't really understand
X11 security (and never needed to up until now). Can someone please tell
me how to fix

Hi group,
When I installed Cygwin this afternoon, I was looking for xorg-x11-base under
the X11 subtree, and I didn't find it there anymore. I installed everything
that was under X11 anyway, and was unable to locate startXwin under
c:\cygwin\usr\X11R6\bin.

Hmmm it seems that ssh needs to run xauth to do connection forwarding
I've got two questions about the new X11 package that got installed when
I ran setup to update my packages today.
First, it looks like all of the apps moves from /usr/X11R6/bin to
/usr/bin. None of my windows start menu or desktop shortcuts got
changed. Is there an automatic way to update them
Does your boss think that closed source upgrades never break anything? I
seem to recall a lot of stuff stopped working for folks when they
upgraded from Win XP to Vista.

I'll give that a try but I am still wondering what changed. XWin.exe
used to be able to determine that another instance was running and just
quietly exit.
Thanks.

X11 has been working fine on my PC for 2 years. This week I started
getting an error message box whenever I try to run startxwin.bat a 2nd
time in order to launch a 2nd xterm. The xterm comes up but only after
the error message box appears.
XWin.log contains this...

Per my recent post on this issue, try setting Windows permissions on the
