the OpenGL rendering offscreen, then transfer it our window, so this becomes

The command which is failing is 'fc-cache -f', and the cache files in question
live in /var/cache/fontconfig.
You might try running 'strace fc-cache -f' from a shell to see if that sheds
any light on why these cache files apparently can't be written.

Using setup. But your setup needs to be running without errors first.

I've uploaded a build with this change at [1], patch to follow. Perhaps you
could try it out and see if it works for you?

WM it knows about (compiz or lookingglass)
Rather than tell all sorts of lies to get XWM to recognize us as one of
those, simply send a synthetic ConfigureNotify for every non-synthetic one

it could be clearer.
Perhaps we should arrange to constrain the X windows to stay in the area of
the virtual desktop for which the shadow framebuffer covers, to avoid windows
which don't get their contents drawn like that.

Is this a known issue? It's a pain to restart X and my apps just to get
X to properly adjust its display size.
This is mentioned in the XWin manpage as a bug.

Standard, although it seems that right control
generates the same X keysym as left control with that layout for some
reason.
Can you clarify how you are checking for the keypresses?
Please attach your /var/log/XWin.0.log as well.

by adding the option '-dpi 75' to
the command used to start the X server.
Or since the the default value is now inherited from Windows, you can use the
Windows control panel display applet to set the system dpi to 75, if you want
consistently tiny fonts on across all applications :-)
