Actually, it came through fine:

If you're having trouble getting email from this list, you may want to
check that things on your end aren't getting in the way.

I now have a workaround for this.
-engine 2 as a parameter will allow XWin to exit cleanly.

Still goes to 100% CPU on aero to basic change, but doesn't crash and
returns to normal on basic to aero change.
It prints winBltExposedRegionsShadowDD - IDirectDrawSurface2_Blt failed,
but surface not lost: 80004005 -2147467259

in the log.

So the server is really working different.
Did you try to set -engine 1 and see if forcing GDI Drawing helps?

Not really, but i can confirm that behaviour.
I'm using XWin -query to get an XDMCP session, and neither a logoff nor a
windows close work. I get 100% cpu load and have to kill it.

By the way, if vista changes from aero to basic XWin goes to 100% load too, and
minimizes its window. Is that the same on your install too?

Yes, I see similar symptoms. I fired up a game that works fine with xwin
running on XP but
on Vista it hangs all the windows and I have to kill xwin again.

I finally have cygwin running nicely on Vista, however when I select
exit then xwin.exe goes to almost 100% cpu and just stays there. I have
to use task manager to kill it. I am using startxwin.bat to start up.
The xwin line looks like this:

run XWin -multiwindow -clipboard -silent-dup-error

Everthing else seems to work just fine except for exiting. Any clues?
Thanks,
Mike
