After reading some articles, written by some credible mathematicians and
computer science engineers, I've become skeptical whether quantum computers
are likely to become practical devices for the many problems they are being
proposed to solve.

Mr. May was amiable in person and exhibited high integrity. My take is
that he detected the plague of identarianism early on, before many did,
and had instinctive revulsion to it. Too bad so few did the same.
